Context

25 Years of Workplace Inclusion

The story starts in 1998, at the Port of Barcelona, when the logistic Center CARES was founded with a clear purpose: to create job opportunities for people with disabilities and, later, those at risk of social exclusion. CARES, an acronym for Centros de Alto Rendimiento Empresarial y Social (Centres for High Business and Social Performance), aims to not only to generate employment but also become a benchmark for workplace inclusion within mainstream companies.

CARES provides professional logistics services for prominent global companies such as Chupa Chups, Mango, Lidl, and Yamaha. These companies benefit from an association with a top-tier logistics leader that is both visionary and inclusive.

The challenge was immense: its story deserved to be told in a special way. Move it beyond in-house team memories and out into the public eye. A story to ensure that CARES, as a logistics company and social force is widely acknowledged and deeply valued as truly deserved.

Outcome

A Story That Had To Be Told

How do you construct a story that has never been written, documented, or shared? How do you trace a narrative when no one person has knows the full journey, only unique, fragmented experiences? How do you recount the path of a logistics company connected to the Port of Barcelona that, beyond business success, also represents significant strides in social growth?

Listen and  listen. Then listen some more.

The work was expansive: 62 hours of audio, 3,720 minutes of conversation, more than 30 photography sessions, and thousands of stories told, culminating in 558,000 words.

“The story of a sea of opportunities.”

Content creation as significant and impactful as its cover. Inside, each page has been independently designed as a unique piece.

The book smells like cardboard, kraft paper, and packaging. It sounds rough, simple, or offbeat. But in hand, it is inviting, profound, and enlightening – just like the countless job opportunities CARES has created over more than 25 years.
